The able Dr. Pixel got himself stuck in a computer program. Too bad (for him) that it's not a very stable program. Can he escape before his incompetency causes Dr_Pixel.exe to fail?

At his disposal is an arsenal of firearms that are well suited for pixelating all the enemies that stand in his way. But to play around with the big guns he first needs fill some weird green bar, 'cause game mechanics.

This game was created in 72 Hours for the Geta Game Jam 12. The theme for the jam was 'unstable'.

Controls:

  • WASD for movement (the spacebar also works)
  • Q to slow down time temporarily
  • E to dash
  • Escape to pause the game.
  • Left click to shoot (You need to hold the button for the minigun)
  • Scroll for switching between weapons (You start out with only one)

Requires OpenGL 3.3+.

You may or may not need to use the version without particles (Though the old issue with this should now be fixed). Incase the audio does not work, try running the OpenAL redist we provided.

The game is mechanically simple but fits the theme "unstable" very well. The enemies however weren't that challenging and were all defeated using the same strategy of jumping over them and repeatedly shooting into the masses, where only the quantity made it more difficult. The weapons were all kind of similar but the sniper was by far the most satisfying one, especially when I cleared out about 8 Illuminatis in one shot, a bit more weapon variety would've been great. In addition to that I'd have wanted the progress bar on the top of the screen to be labeled, since I wasn't sure what exactly it meant and only discovered that it indicated the progress to the next weapon unlock in my second playthrough (I failed the first playthrough since I never knew there were other weapons - should've read the description once more). The soundtrack and graphics are very fitting and well made, but the music is a bit too loud. Overall the game is interesting to play but gets very repetitive after a while.

To the dev: I don't know why but the "Particles On"-Version did not work on my up to date system, you might want to take another good look at that.
